1 cup flour 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 tablespoons unsalted butter 1/2 cup sugar 1 egg beaten 1/3 cup milk 2 cups apple slices 1 tablespoon sugar 1 teaspoon each cinnamon and ginger 1 teaspoon apple cider 1 cup Forty to One cooking syrup
Heat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt, set aside. Cream butter and sugar in a medium bowl. Beat in egg. Stir in flour mixture, alternating with milk.
Place apples in a 2 quart casserole, sprinkle sugar, cinnamon and ginger and toss.
Pour batter over apples making sure all apples are covered. Heat apple cider and maple syrup to boiling, stirring often. Pour over batter.
Bake 35-45 minutes.
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.
